Tips for optimal Norbert device performance
Set up your device away from direct sunlight or drafts, preferably in the area with rather stable ambient temperature (away from the entrance and exit doors to outside).
Subjects should look directly at the camera during screening.
Allow subject to be in the same room as the device for at least 1 minute before taking their temperature - skin temperature tends to cool down or heat up for 30 seconds up to 2 minutes when getting inside.
Dark hair, hats, phones, earbuds or headphones can be hot and occasionally confuse Norbert and create false high temperatures. Use the infrared image provided in the dashboard to confirm where temperature was measured.
The optimal distance between the Norbert device and subjects should be 3.5 feet.
The easiest way to keep this distance consistent is to measure 3.5 feet from the device, and then mark the floor area with an X. By encouraging visitors or staff to stand on the marked X spot you will ensure consistent and accurate temperature readings. For faster and consistent readings, ensure the subject’s eyes are clearly exposed by removing any eyewear. Subjects wearing a face mask should pull it down slightly and subjects wearing a hat should lift the brim to fully expose the eyes.
